Guten Tag! My name is Frau Akers. My family is originally from Seattle, Washington, but I was raised in Germany. I attended 10 years of German public school and then transferred to the local American high school. I completed my undergraduate education at Florida State University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in German and Multilingual Education. When my family relocated to the Charleston area, I enrolled at The Citadel and completed my Master’s of Education in the Social Sciences there.
My first years of teaching were at Drayton Hall Middle School where I taught social studies in grades 6-8. I have been working at West Ashley High School since it opened in 2000. I teach 10th grade Global Studies and German I-III. I have also led 4 student travel groups to Europe with my friend and colleague Madame Morris.
My husband and I have a daughter and son. Together we live on Johns Island.
