Anti-Bullying Information

West Ashley High along with Charleston County School District is taking a stand against bullying.  Our stance is simple: CCSD believes in a safe learning environment for all students; therefore, we will not tolerate bullying in any form.

Bullying will not be tolerated at West Ashley High.  It is defined as “a deliberate, repeated act with intention to hurt, insult or threaten another person in school, on school grounds, in school vehicles, or at school events. Bullying consists of an imbalance of power.”

Students, please do not be afraid to tell a principal, your school counselor, a teacher, or other faculty member if you feel you are being bullied.  Everyone should report any active of bullying immediately.  You can do this by telling an adult, by placing the names or situation in the Bully Box (located in the School Counseling Office), or by e-mailing the Bullying Stops Here tipline at Kyle_Miller@charleston.k12.sc.us.  CCSD has established a 24-hour Bullying Tip Line which can be reached by calling 1-877-250-2790.

To find out more about CCSD’s policies on bullying and how to prevent it, please read the Bullying Prevention Memo from Superintendent Dr. McGinley.

You can also find out more information by reading the What is Bullying? Flyer or the Bullying Prevention Brochure, which was also sent home with each of our students.  Click to download the School Counseling Department's Anti-Bullying Brochure.
