Scheduling
Scheduling Classes
- Classes for the media center and media lab are scheduled in 45-minute periods via a sign-in book located at the circulation desk. Please schedule as far ahead as possible because the calendar fills up quickly.
- Please provide the media specialist with a written assignment of what the students will be doing while in the media center. This helps us to know in advance the materials they will need so we can give them instructions about where to find and how to use them. We will be happy to locate print and non-print resources for your classes and provide instruction.
- If you wish to have materials placed on reserve in the media center, please in form the media staff before you make the assignment to students (several days in advance). Books quickly get checked out if you tell the students first, and as a result they will have no resources available to them.
- Media staff will happily provide bibliographies if you give 3-4 days’ notice.
- Half of a 90-minute period has proven to be the maximum that students can stay on task. Also, we can accommodate more classes this way.
- When teachers are absent, classes may not visit with a substitute. Substitutes should be advised not to write passes for the media center.
Sending Students to the Media Center
- The media center can seat approximately 100 students, accommodating up to two classes and several students with passes from other classes at one time.
- Groups of 5 or less may be sent to the media center without advance notice. We reserve the right to send small groups back if the media center is full.
- Students must obtain passes from an academic teacher to be admitted to the media center. Please use the green media passes provided by the media center staff. If you need more passes, leave us a note and we will gladly get more to you.
Students not participating in field trips or taking make-up tests should not be assigned to the media center, unless prior arrangements have been made with the media specialists.
