Teacher Bio


Coach Tyson Azevedo has 13 years of high school teaching and coaching experience and will be entering his fourth year as a PE/Health teacher and head baseball coach at West Ashley High School for the 2017-2018 school year.  Prior to teaching at West Ashley, Coach Azevedo spent eight years at Wando High School where he also taught PE and Health, as well as, coaching both baseball and football.  After graduating from college, Coach Azevedo spent his first two years of teaching and coaching in Newberry County before moving back to his hometown of Charleston, SC.

Coach Azevedo is originally from North Charleston, SC.  He graduated from Stall High School in 2000 and earned a baseball scholarship to attend Newberry College where he served primarily as a pitcher on the baseball team for four years.  He graduated from college in 2004, and later moved back to Charleston in 2006. Coach Azevedo loves teaching in the Physical Education & Health department at West Ashley High, and feels very blessed and proud to be the Wildcats head baseball coach.  He and his wife Melissa have been married for six years, have a beautiful daughter Brynlee(4), and reside in West Ashley.
